1. Cutting wood
After determining size of openings,
we can calculate thickness of stiles, rails and kumikos. Then the wood
is cut to rough dimensions.

2. Joints
Depending on finished weight of
shoji, we determine what style of joints will be used. Joints are cut
and rough frame is assembled.

3. Planing
Wood is planed if a natural finish
is to be used.
|
|
|
|
4. Kumiko
The kumikos are cut to proper
length, laid out and inter-woven.
|
|
|
|
5. Assembly
Kumiko is fitted in frame.

6. Fitting paper
Fitting shoji paper on a window.
