How to attach shoji
paper - Tough Top paper
version
What you'll need: Rice glue
(sold as Nori at craft stores. Do not dilute with water.) or use Warlon
double-sided tape.
A brush, three pieces of tape, a sharp utility
knife or pair
of scissors, a ruler, a spray bottle (optional)

Tape a spot
on the edge of paper on the shoji panel. Unroll about a foot to see if
the paper is lined up straight with the frames. Adjust the paper
direction, and tape two more spots on the edge to secure the paper.
Roll back the paper. |

Apply glue
with a brush starting on the kumikos (grids) and then on the frame.
Glue on the frame should be thicker. |

Unroll the
paper slowly. Cut the paper to an approximate length while holding down
glued area. |

Using a
ruler and an utility knife, finish cut the excess paper off. The paper
may shrink when it's dry, try to keep at least 1/4 inch margin. |

It may
take up to a few days to completely dry after glued. If sagging occurs,
spray water evenly on entire sheet. |
